Japanese wisteria is a plant of the Fabaceous family of legumes. It entwines itself around large trees, and produces a canopy of beautiful flowers which hang gracefully from the boughs of the host tree. Loved by the Japanese since ancient times, the flower has been incorporated in the designs and motifs of all of the traditional Japanese arts, including textiles and kimonos, as well as the ornamental and decorative arts. The design shown below is an expression in metal, and was produced by Yoshiyo Studios.
