The “autumn grasses” motif is a classical Japanese design which expresses the movement of the grass in a field as it is gently caressed by the wind. With countless variations, this motif has been incorporated into virtually all of the traditional Japanese arts and crafts, including the dyeing, weaving, and lacquer-ware industries.
