The partition above has been designed from a landscape of Matsushima, a group of islands which are situated in the Pacific Ocean in the northeast part of Japan near the city of Sendai. The islands of Matsushima, long famous as one of the three scenic views of Japan, have a sawtooth coastline lined with old, weathered pines growing from the rock. This partition, which was designed and created by Yoshiyo Studios, depicts the pines entwined with Japanese wisteria, surrounded by the waves of the ocean in a notedly traditional Japanese style. It is displayed in the lobby of a hotel near the islands. Material: iron with gold and silver leaf.
